... ignoring

Excerpt from Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale.

"We lived, as usual, by ignoring. Ignoring isn't the same as ignorance, you have to work at it."

Yeah its an art....I now can walk right through busy places like shopping malls without really looking at people. Just seeing. LOL the bad part is that I once walked right passed my mom, and 2 minutes later I called her to ask where she was.

This quote just hits you, doesn't it. I think everyone is guilty of it in certain degrees.

she's such a quotable quoter.

my favourite atwoodism is "wanting to meet an author because you like his book is like wanting to meet a duck because you like pate"!

She truly is quotable:

"A word after a word after a word is power"

But my favorite is that I use on my wife who like Atwood too: "gardening is not a rational act."

:)

Good Luck with your reading.

bibliobibuli, Obiter Dictum : Thanks for the quotes. Makes me want to read more and more Atwood. I've read 4 of her works, time to go get more.

And thanks for the good luck!
