Dammit! Why can't people blog properly and include the fricking book title.
Actually I would have thought the book okay for children if it did not have a subtle anti-gay message. It must have been written by someone in the American Bible Belt.
Most likely the book is specifically for disturbed children, but what if an untainted kid picks it up? Poor daddy has to explain the whats and whys of 'playing with private parts' and exactly is 'gay' (and faggot. and sissy. and..).
I have to say I think gayness is largely a disease of the head than a 'I'm born like this' condition. Not that I'm against it, to each his own =).
Here is my take or rather opinion. I have been in forums and discussion groups on many matter but not here of course ... lol ...
1. Disturbing Kiddie Book? I am not too sure what you mean by disturbing in what way. I see them as being honest and frank. There is no obscene drawing here. It was done on knowledge base. Maybe, they should have it label as medical therapy book rather than just a casual reading kiddie book. This is an area where doctors and parents can play their role in sex education knowledge for educating younger generation. Of course, with the approval from the medical society.
2. Sexuality is a very complex area to discuss, and for starter I have nothing against gay or lesbian. At this moment, my take on them is a preference of relation. The topic is that you might be refering to at Wiki is that, he is claiming homosexulity is a desease and need to be cure. There is no medical proof to that and I do agree that homosexulity is not a desease (as far as my stand on this topic and has been debated this far to my understanding). This stuff has gone back for generation ever since the dawn of time. It stand as more a moral issue in a society rather than a medical issue in health. Confining to social norm in the early days is much more simple but today society is very much complex.
... like I say it just my opinion and I won't be going further on this topic. It is posted with the intention as a knowledge. Afterall, in the forum when I was discussing on this topic, we all went our own way without a solid answer. I have lot of thinking about this topic before but still very complex. I do contradict even with my own points ... well, that is life ... :)
Wow! I hardly know what to say. As a former CPS caseworker, I can definitely see the value of such a book for a child who has been molested. But disturbing? yeah.

It was really amusing. How did you guess? Where did you manage to dig it up from?
It's so not for children's consumption. Just like how Cow and Chicken, Thundercats, Barney and Tellietubbies aren't as well. LOL.

anah: my bro gave me the link. hehe
Hmm, so to be gay, you must have been abused. A more than slightly offensive tome.
This was on digg yesterday. Better quality pictures (ok, just bigger and easier to read) here.

Don't think that was the message. Rather, more like "You might not be gay even though you might have confusions about sexuality."
Thanks for the link klaw. Now we know the book is Alfie's Place by Richard Cohen.
He's some anti-gay person. See his wiki page, he looks quite.. umm. Scroll down and see his touch therapy pic. Ummm...
Wow...just...wow. The guy who wrote this book totally stole my idea! The b@stard!
